It has been a crazy year. We all need a break from the hustle and bustle of the city. At The Grove too we have decided to pack our bags and head to the beach and where better than the Bay of Islands?

The Grove will be opening from the 7th – 16th January at the Donkey Bay Inn, Russell. Recently named the world’s best eco-hotel, it’s a small but luxurious boutique hotel decorated with a quirky and elegant design that delightfully matches our style of cuisine and service.

Seated below the southern hemispheres biggest living roof, expect the woodfire oven to play a starring role, as dishes roll one by one from the open kitchen onto the terrace graced by sunset and outstanding views of the sea. Head chef Ryan Moore and team will be creating a unique menu taking full advantage of the bounty of the Bay of Islands. The in-house organic vegetable garden will serve as an inspirational starting point, along with additional produce selected from some of New Zealand finest suppliers who reside not much further than a stone’s throw away of Donkey Bay.

The experience will be crowned by our outstanding wine selection and excellent service. Bookings are essential. Seats and seating times are extremely limited as we want to preserve and respect the intimate and luxurious nature of the Donkey Bay Inn.

We will also bring along with us our sister restaurant Baduzzi, which will be operating in the daytime, on the gorgeous waterfront of central Russell, serving New Zealand best meatballs along with some other delicious Italian summer favourites.

 We are currently fully booked for Donkey Bay . but don’t worry!! Baduzzi restaurant has plenty of delicious options for you. Baduzzi will be located on the corner between York Street and Chapel street.
